TRICK TRAINING

Unleash your Dog's Innner Genius in our Trick Training Classes

Are you looking for an activity that you and your Dog enjoy doing together? Are you looking for more than just basic obedience and standard dog training? Or would you just like to expand your and your Dog's horizon and delve into something a bit different? Then Trick Training may just be what you are looking for.

What is Trick Training

Trick training for dogs involves teaching them a variety of fun and often entertaining behaviors that go beyond basic obedience. While Trick Training does include and require exercises like sit, stay, and come, it is more about engaging your dog's mind, building a strong bond, and adding a playful element to your training and relationship.

Trick training can include a wide range of behaviours and draws from a variety of canine activities like agility, hoopers, scentwork, assistance dog training, fitness training, parkouring, obedience and more. This covers simple tricks like "shake hands" or "roll over" as well as more complex activities such as weaving through poles, playing dead, fetching specific items by name, skateboarding, play cards or even play musical instruments - the sky is the limit. The key is to have fun, both you and your dog, using positive reinforcement techniques like treats, praise, and toys.

What happens in our Trick Training classes

Every week we look at a variety of tricks and learn and practise the skills needed. The classes are small so every team has enough space and time available.

Vera Marney, our Trick Training Instructor, is certified by the Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD) organisation. Although there is absolutely no pressure for anyone to get assessed and apply for the titles from Novice to Expert Level, those owners that wish to do so can be assessed in class and send off for the titles.
