What every dog owner needs to know - 11th October 2026 - TALK with TREVOR COOPER (Dog Law Solicitor)

This 3-hour seminar covers a wide-ranging mix of legal issues that are important to dog owners, including responsibilities when buying and selling dogs, liability (both civil and criminal) for dogs that harm people and animals and much more.

This is a Talk that EVERY dog owner should attend, we are all affected by the laws that regulate dog ownership, what we can and can't do and what our rights and responsibilities are. At Blo' Norton Village Hall. £30 (Registration is directly on Doglaw website).

HELP - MY DOG IS REACTIVE! - Look out for the new dates in 2026 - TALK

Does your dog sometimes lunge, bark or snap at other dogs, people, wildlife or livestock? Or does your dog try to chase cars, lorries or bicycles? If you'd like to know why your dog does this and how you can improve things, then this TALK is for you. It is a deep dive into what reactivity is, what causes it, how you can manage it and how you can start changing your dog’s behaviour. It won’t just be a one-way lecture - though I could happily talk about this topic for hours - but it will be interactive where you can ask questions and we can discuss various scenarios that you are dealing with. FABULOUS FOCUS - to be confirmed - WORKSHOP

Does your dog not listen to you or does he have selective hearing? Then this is the workshop for you where you will get an in depth understanding on how to teach your dog great focus at home, on walks and wherever you need it. You also really want to do this workshop as a foundation for the RELIABLE RECALL and LOVELY LEAD WALKING too. £40 / £30 for WTDT Members

RELIABLE RECALL - to be confirmed - WORKSHOP

Is your dog's recall patchy and does he only come back when he feels like it? Then this is the workshop for you where you will learn in detail how to manage your dog effectively on walks and how teach a solid recall. Consider doing the FABULOUS FOCUS workshop too if you register for this one. £40 / £30 for WTDT Members

LOVELY LEAD WALKING - to be confirmed - WORKSHOP

Is your dog a puller? Then this is the workshop for you where you learn all about how to achieve great lead walking skills from your dog making sure that you are walking your dog and not the other way round. Consider doing the FABULOUS FOCUS workshop too if you register for this one. £40 / £30 for WTDT Members

HAPPY HANDLING - to be confirmed - WORKSHOP

Do you struggle to groom your dog, clip his nails or administer medication ? Is your dog scared or difficult at the vet or at the groomers? Then this is the workshop for you where we will cover grooming and handling in great detail including body examinations, administering ear and eye drops, nail clipping, muzzle training and more. £40 / £30 for WTDT Members

RELIABLE RECALL & LOVELY LEAD WALKING - REAL LIFE SESSIONS

Have you attended our Workshops RELIABLE RECALL and/or LOVELY LEAD WALKING (at any time) and need some further help and practice to apply the learnt skills in a real life situation? Our new REAL LIFE SESSIONS will take place in a rural as well as an urban setting so you can learn how to manage and teach your dog around all the distractions that you encounter on a regular basis. These Sessions are exclusively for owners that have attended our Workshops, if you haven't done that, you will need to attend those first. £20 per dog

HOW: 1-hour or 2-hour sessions (as advised) covering the topic in depth

WHO is it for: suitable for all breeds and ages of dog, though for WORKSHOPS and REAL LIFE SESSIONS they need to be comfortable around other dogs and people. If your dog is mildly reactive please contact us before registering.

WHO is teaching: Vera Marney, who is the WTDT owner, an experienced and highly qualified trainer and behaviourist unless otherwise advised. We do sometimes invite other trainers and speakers too.
